I went in and was greeted by a really friendly dude who told me to head over to bike service to have my tube replaced on my mountain bike. Then I was helped by an older guy who was surprisingly very rude to me and didn't answer any of my questions about what happened to the tube. He dismissed my question about upgrading to tubeless tires (thought this would be in his best interest?) and continued to not talk to me... It seemed like he really all he wanted was to service my bike as quickly as possible and get me out of there. I was pretty shocked because a friend of mine works there and it has always sounded like a great shop with great people. This was probably a one time bad experience, but I was completely shocked with the unfriendliness.
We have rented bikes here a couple times and the staff is so great! They get you outfitted in no time and make sure you feel comfortable with you bike. We have used the bike trailer also for our 2 year old and it was very easy to use and he seemed very comfortable. We will come back again for bikes!
I would just like to give a shout out to Eric and Peter. Eric special ordered a bike lock for me and kept in touch with me while it was backordered. As soon as it came in, he made sure I got it in a timely manner. Then Peter helped me change the stem on my road bike and oiled up the chain and checked the gears for me. They were both amazing and knowledgeable and friendly!! I'll never go anywhere else for my road bike!
Rented a mountain bike while here on vacation. Quick and easy process, cheaper prices than all of the other local stores. Rode a couple of the trails recommended by the guy at the shop. No issues with returning the bike all dirty, etc. Would rent a bike from here again or buy from here if I lived in the area. A lot of selection in stock and they had knowledgeable employees who provided good customer service.
The staff has extensive knowledge on their products and the biking culture in Boulder without being pretentious. I'm not a hardcore, advanced biker and nobody at the shop has ever made me feel dumb or like I didn't belong there (something I've unfortunately experienced at other bike shops in the past). They're happy to take the time to explain anything to you, answer questions, and are really great at finding a bike that fits your exact needs. They have a great selection at the shop and are happy to order anything they don't have in stock. Great shop run by great people. I highly recommend!
I've purchased two bikes from University Bicycles and both times the experience has been wonderful.
