There is a lot of good food to choose from on the menu, it is often difficult to choose what to eat. Zeal offers a great balance of wholesomeness and healthiness with really bold and savory flavors using fresh ingredients. It reminds me of home cooking in that good comfort food, wholesome kind of way. Plus, while they do have lots of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free items, and are hip and understanding of dietary restriction, zeal is not overly zealous, and they do have plenty of tasty meat items for us meat eaters. I think there is something for everyone on this menu.
If you care about food, where it comes from and how it makes you feel--- ZEAL is your place. A Foodie Paradise. The menu was full of healthful delicious choices. The staff believed in the mission of the restaurant. My daughter has food allergies and the staff at Zeal went out of their way to provide lists of ingredients and answer all questions. I'm a huge fan of Dan Barber and was thrilled to see a copy his book "The Third Plate" at the hostess table. We need more ZEALs in the world. LOVE!!
Excellent spot for healthy dining! We had several items and everything was delicious, even the bone broth. And if you can make bone broth taste good, you are a hell of a chef! We did have a small issue with dessert - the carrot cake was stale, but they gladly replaced it for us. Service was very good too. Can’t wait to go back to Boulder so I can eat here again.
Delicious, healthy, wonderful food and drinks! Very friendly staff and a lovely environment. Service is not always great, though. This is the one area where Zeal needs to step things up a bit. Wait staff are not always quick to check on you, and I have found myself looking around for them several times, wondering if they're going to remember to get something I asked for, etc. They don't anticipate that you're almost finished your glass of wine and might like another. That sort of thing. Not bad, really, just not as "on it" as one might hope. I think they just need a bit more training and some strong supervision. The food wins out for me every time, though. It's just soooo good. Oh, AND a quick shout out to their juice master. He is awesome- super friendly, always helpful, and knowledgeable.
I was frustrated with the level of stems in the food, which has been an issue a number of times. I'm happy to say that Devon kindly gave me a gift certificate for my last meal to allow me to go back to eating a dish I love, which isn't full of too much roughage. Lots of the dishes are quite lovely. I'll just be careful in the future about this issue. It was the veggie curry that I had trouble with last time. The bread free sandwiches are lovely!
