I am a parishioner of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Evanston, IL. While visitig my daughter in Lafayette, she and I attended service at St. John's on October 10. We were both very much impressed, not only by the beauty of the church, the serenity of the chapel, the service itself - but most especially by the warm welcome given us by so many of the congregation. Those who call this their parish church are very lucky indeed.

This has been my church for 30 years. It's always changing as new folks come and we lose the older loved ones. There are many types of worship for all kinds of interests, and the educational offerings "don't make you leave your brain at the door," as we Episcopalians like to say. I believe it has the right mixture of being welcoming and encouraged, but not making anyone feel that they have to stand up if they don't wish to do so. The music is wonderful -- a good way to check out the church might be to come for a Sunday Compline service at 9 pm (every other week). Gorgeous voices fill the church, while the lights are low and the congregation can end their day in quiet contemplation. Or come for kids on the second Sunday of the month.

Old Church with new Ideas! Visit it and plan to stay.

This used to be a lovely place. But with the liberalization of the Episcopal Church it has become, mainly from the decades of Fr. Jim McKeown, nothing more than yet another experiment in progressive politics and social work. There is really nothing "Christian" about this Church and congregation and it slavishly follows the secular ideas of all Boulder. I would suggest you investigate the Anglican Church of North America to experience the love of Christ.

My wife and I felt instantly welcomed when we visited this church a couple times after moving to the Boulder area. The staff and congregation were quick to answer questions and introduce us to people.
